PURPOSE:To prevent blind printing by providing the projection part on the side of a carriage frame to a ribbon cartridge and informing that the ribbon cartridge is not mounted when the projection part is not detected by a homing sensor at the time of the indexing of a home position. CONSTITUTION:When a carriage frame 6 is loaded with a ribbon cartridge 7, the projection part of the ribbon cartridge 7 turns a homing sensor 8 'ON'. When a home position processing means 4 inputs an 'ON' signal from the homing sensor 8, the means 4 reads a predetermined drive pulse value from a drive pulse value memory means l to input the same to a spacing motor driving control means 2. Then, a spacing motor 5 is driven to move the carriage frame 6 toward the other end by a predetermined distance to stop the same. This stop position is a home position. When the cartridge 7 is not mounted, the homing sensor is not turned ''ON'' to stop the driving of the spacing motor 5 and an alarm generating means 3 informs that the ribbon cartridge 7 is not mounted. |
