PURPOSE:To reduce various kinds of unevenness occurring at the time of heating development and to obtain a color image having excellent image quality by providing the stage of preliminary heat development of the temperature of which is higher than that of heat development by at least >= 5 deg.C before the stage of heat development. CONSTITUTION:At least one stage of preliminary heat development of the temperature of which is higher than that of the heat development by >= 5 deg.C is provided before the stage of heat development. Namely, the temperature in the case of heat development is 50-200 deg.C, desirably 80-180 deg.C, and it is desirable that the temperature of preliminary heating is higher than that of the heat development by at least >=5 deg.C, desirably >=10 deg.C. Then, the heat development time is >=1 second and <=5 minutes, desirably >=1 second and <=1 minute, and it is desirable to set the preliminary heating time at 1/2, desirably 1/3, of the heat development. Thus, the preliminary heating is performed at a temperature at which basic precursor is thoroughly decomposed and in a short time that the next stage of development is not started, so that the temperature dependency of the basic precursor is reduced, the unevenness occurring at the time of heat development is reduced and the image having little variation of density is obtained. |
