PURPOSE:To reduce the number of non-linear distortions to be generated by dividing plural subcarriers into two groups and modulating each different light source in each group. CONSTITUTION:Respective subcarriers in respective subcarrier multiplex signals 1(1), 1(2) are BSB/AM modulated by a TV signal. Respective subcarrier multiplex signals 1(1), 1(2) are multiplexed with respective bias currents 2(1), 2(2) and respective multiplexed signals are applied to transmitting light sources 3(1), 3(2). Output beams 4(1), 4(2) from the light sources 3(1), 3(2) are polarized and multiplexed by a polarizing multiplexer 6 and the multiplexed light is outputted as signal light 7. Thus, the number of non-linear distortions to be generated can be reduced. |
