PURPOSE:To attain high reliability and small power consumption and to simplify a circuit system by amplifying optical signals inputted from an up line and a down line by the 1st and 2nd light amplifying fibers based upon the pumping of an output beam obtained by adding respective beams projected from the 1st and 2nd light sources. CONSTITUTION:Pumping light outputted from the 1st light amplying fiber 100 is applied to the input of the 2nd light amplifying fiber 210 together with an output beam from the 2nd light source 300, pumping light from the fiber 210 is applied to the fiber 100 together with an output beam from the 1st light source 110. The 1st and 2nd fibers 100, 210 amplify optical signals S1, S2 inputted from the up and down lines based upon the pumping of an output beam obtained by adding respective beams outputted from the 1st and 2nd light sources 110, 300. Consequently, the high reliability and small power consumption of this system can be attained and the circuit can be simplified. |
