GAS CONCENTRATION DETECTOR OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the gas concentration detector of an internal combustion engine capable of enhancing detection precision and reducing a production cost.

SOLUTION: The gas concentration detector 1 is so constituted as to detect the concentration of gasoline in a combustion gas in the vicinity of the ignition plug 10 of the combustion chamber 3d of the internal combustion engine 3 and equipped with a luminous body 31, a photodetector 32, optical fibers 24 and 25 on emission and detection sides, a reflecting mirror 28 and an ECU 2. The infrared laser beam with a wavelength of 3.39μm emitted from the luminous body 31 penetrates the optical fiber 24 on the emission side to be emitted into the combustion chamber 3d from an emission end part 24a and reflected by the reflecting mirror 28 to enter the light detecting end part 25a of the optical fiber 25 on the light detection side to be detected by the photodetector 32. The ECU 2 operates the concentration C of gasoline from the intensity I0of the infrared laser beam at the time of emission and the intensity I of the infrared laser beam at the time of detection.
