PURPOSE:To easily connect a semiconductor laser and a channel type waveguide in a short period of time by providing the channel type waveguide and the bare chip of the semiconductor laser fixed onto a block. CONSTITUTION:This semiconductor connected channel type waveguide has the structure coupled with the block 4 and the channel type waveguide chip 8 in such a manner that the end face of the light emitting region of the bare chip 5 and the end face of the channel section of the channel type waveguide 8 are in proximity to each other. The width W and thickness T in the channel section of this channel type waveguide 8, the deviation DELTAX in the transverse direction between the center line of the bare chip 5 of the semiconductor laser, the deviation DELTAZ in the thickness direction thereof, and the distance DELTAY between the end face of the light remitting region of the bare chip 5 and the end face of the channel section of the channel type waveguide 8 are so determined as to respectively satisfy equation I, equation II, equation III. The semiconductor laser and the channel type waveguide 8 are easily connected in a short period of time with high accuracy in this way and the incidence of the laser beam with high accuracy is possible. |
