PURPOSE:To obtain an electromagnetic actuator which is less in energy loss by forming a residual magnetic field having a peak in the axial direction of a cylindrical superconducting body and inserting a needle fitted with a plurality of electromagnets into the superconducting body and then, successively and alternately energizing the electromagnets so as to make the needle perform reciprocating motions. CONSTITUTION:A residual magnetic field is formed by impressing a strong external magnetic field upon a cylindrical superconducting body 1 using a suprconducting material having a large critical current density and pinning effect and needle 2 fitted with a plurality of electromagnets is inserted into the body 1. When an electric current is made to flow to one electromagnet 4 in the direction in which the electromagnet 4 is attracted to the magnetic field in the body 1, the needle 2 floats in a non-contact state and stops at the position where the electromagnet 4 comes to the peak position of the magnetic field. When the current to the electromagnet 4 is turned off and another current is made to flow to the other electromagnet 3 in the direction in which the electromagnet 3 is attracted to the magnetic field, the needle 2 floats in a non-contact state and stops at the position where the electromagnet 3 comes to the peak position of the magnetic field. By alternately turning on/off the electromagnets 3 and 4 in such way, the needle 2 is repeatedly raised and lowered and electric energy can be converted efficiently into kinetic energy.
|
