Apparatus which is fixed on to the bird's beak in order to prevent them from pulling out their own feathers or those of their fellows. The apparatus, which is made from a plastic or metal, is made up of two parts: the part A is connected to the part B via a rod C, which is firmly attached to the part A. The parts A and B each have a recessed area, into which the bird's beak is slipped. The apparatus can be fitted easily, irrespective of the bird's age, the rack on the rod C enabling the part B to be placed in the ideal position with respect to the size of the bird's beak. This apparatus is particularly designed for farmed birds, in particular gallinaceous species. <IMAGE>
