Multicoloured fashion accessory prodn. - using laser beam to structure cover layer on coloured metal layer

Prodn. of fashion accessories involves (i) forming a first metal layer of a certain colour on a substrate; (ii) covering the metal layer with a cover layer which is then hardened; (iii) using a laser beam to eliminate part of the cover layer and leave an exposed region of the first metal layer; and (iv) forming a second metal layer of different colour on the exposed region of the first metal layer. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is used esp. for prodn. of fashion accessories with multicoloured designs or patterns, e.g., watches, earrings, pendants, and ornamental grips for zip fasteners. It is simple, accurate and independent of the substrate surface.
