摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp image having high density by preventing the lowering of the surface smoothness of an image receiving layer after recording by successively laminating a layer having heat resistance higher than that of a substrate and a dye receiving layer on the substrate. CONSTITUTION:An image receiving medium is formed by successively laminating an intermediate layer C having heat resistance higher than that of an image receiving substrate A and a dye receiving layer B dyeable with a heat- sublimable dye on the image receiving substrate A. The heat-sublimable dye is sublimed and diffused from the dye transfer layer 4 of a sublimation type transfer recording medium by the heat from a thermal head 1 and the sublimed dye is transferred to the dye receiving layer B of the image receiving medium. The sublimed dye transferred to the image receiving medium is diffused into the dyeable resin forming the dye receiving layer B to dye said resin. At this time, since the intermediate layer C having heat resistance is provided between the substrate A and the dye receiving layer B, it is prevented that the substrate itself is plastically deformed by the heating at the time of recording and the lowering of the surface smoothness of the receiving layer is suppressed.
