<p>A labelling method and system that can protect a very wide variety of items (2, 30, 51) from theft. The method and system requires: 1) A message (11) that describes the state the owner intends a given item to be in and says that the item is stolen if not in that state and further asks observers to take appropriate action if the item is in stolen state. 2) The message (7, 8, 10) must be made part of said item in a way that does not hinder the functioning of the item and in a way that makes the message tamperproof. 3) Designated people must be able to change the message to describe a different intended state for the item. 4) The message and the changed message must be easily detectable to people nearby without aid to their senses.</p> |
