Sepg. plastic coated metal - by passing strips of combination material over induction heater and diverting sepd. constituents into different containers

Metal-plastics composites, and partic. flat strips of metal with a plastic covering, are sepd. into their constituents by subjecting them to a temp. which affects the one constituent more than the other. Specifically, two endless belts (11, 12) move together for a distance, forming an entry end (13) and outlet end (14) to the narrow gap between them, both passing round one particular guide roller (15). An inclined chute (16) guides strips of the combination material into this entry (13) as shown by the arrow (17). The strips, which are plastic-coated metal, are moved past an induction heater (18) which causes the plastic layer to separate from the metal. The plastic material remains on the lower belt (12) at the outlet end (14) and drops off (20) below, whilst the metal is carried further and is sent into a different holder (21) by the influence of a magnet (23). This separation is also aided by the blade (24). ADVANTAGE - The method is cheap and simple.
