The workpiece (8) is placed in its required position by an industrial robot with the aid of auxiliary equipment (2, 3, 4) in order to undergo a mfg. operation. The equipment (2, 3, 4) guides the workpiece to the intended position. The auxiliary equipment (2, 3, 4) is mounted on a baseplate of ferromagnetic material. Each item (2) of auxiliary equipment is provided with a permanent magnet (3) which holds it in its required position. One or more of the items (2) of auxiliary equipment may be fitted with a guide element (4) to facilitate the correct positioning of the workpiece (8) on the baseplate (1).
