Ink etc. is applied to the inner surface of e.g. a cylindrical stencil (16) of a silk screen printing machine by a roller (6), supported on stub shafts in bearing housings (8) fitted with end caps (10). The bearings provide a generous radial clearance. The roller is pressed against the internal surface of the cylindrical stencil by magnets placed under the sheet (17) support surface (18). The bearing housing caps have internal surfaces which converge towards each other in the direction of travel of the roller.
