Observation device for submarine - provides optical information from video camera in glass dome to evaluator via optical fibre

A viewing tube for a submarine (1) comprising an optical observation sensor (2) which floats freely on the surface of the water and takes pictures of the surroundings, and transmits the image information via a tension removing optical fibre (3) to an image analyser (4) in the submarine. The sensor comprises a video camera on a stabilised plate. The camera is protected by a transparent dome. USE/ADVANTAGE - Can be used with submarine submerged a great depths. Submarine cannot be located by detecting position of sensor. Steadier image since not attached to vessel.
