The hydrostatic converter has a pump part with pump rotor drivable by a drive unit, and a motor part with motor rotor drivable by the pump part. The pump rotor and motor rotor are connected together rotationally secured and form one rotor element (3) which rotates in one piece. Each supply chamber (23) is connected to an inlet channel and an outlet channel wherein the inlet channels (26) of the pump-side conveyor chambers (23,23') communicate with the outlet channels (27) of the motor-side conveyor chambers (23,23") and the outlet channels (28) of the pump-side conveyor chambers communicate with the inlet channels (29) of the motor-side conveyor chambers by channels (68,68',69',70,71) which are connected rotationally secured to the rotor element (3). A control valve (54) is associated with each piston and controls the channel connections. During operation fluid circulates between the conveyor chambers through channels. USE/ADVANTAGE - Only one fluid volume need be circulated which is proportional to the ratio between the output speed and drive speed.
