<p>The present invention provides a mouse/human heterohybrid cell line useful as a fusion partner with B-lymphocytes producing antibody to an antigen of interest collected from a human host. Such fusions result in the production of hybridoma cell lines secreting human monoclonal antibodies reactive with epitopes of interest. Such monoclonal antibodies are useful in the same way as prior art monoclonal antibodies with the added advantage of being less likely to induce adverse reactions in humans receiving monoclonal antibody therapy. The prior art is replete with examples of the therapeutic use of monoclonal antibodies. The present invention additionally provides methods for the production of hybridoma cell lines secreting human monoclonal antibodies reactive with epitopes of interest. The subject mouse/human heterohybrid cell line EL41 was deposited for patent purposes on May 16, 1990 with the European Collection of Animal Cell Cultures and given Accession No. 90051602.</p> |
