The chimney involved has an aperture through which the connector fits, ending with its inner edge in the region of the smoke pipe contour. At a virtually constant distance from the inner edge (24) of the connector (18) outwards, a ring flange (36) is formed. The inner cover part (28) of the connector located between the inner edge and the ring flange engages in the smoke pipe aperture (22). The average axial distance between the inner edge and the ring flange is approximately equal to the wall thickness of the smoke pipe (12).
