Fire retardant compositions containing GUP and boric acid

Disclosed are guanylurea phosphate (GUP)/boric acid formulations and methods of making said formulations that have greater than 97 percent purity. Compositions of the type disclosed are useful for treating cellulosic materials for fire retardance.
