The dryer for moving piece goods, esp. a predryer for a padding machine, has a recirculating continuous mesh belt (11) within the housing (10) to support the fabric (12) which enters and emerges at the base. The drying medium passes through the fabric on the mesh belt, and then through to the interior of the continuous mesh belt loop for extn. A fan blower at the housing (10) delivers the drying medium to the fabric (12) through guides and its suction side is connected to the interior (18) of the closed mesh belt (11) loop. A blowing gas or oil burner can be at the interior (18) of the closed mesh belt (11) loop in the housing (10) and exhaust outlet can be fitted to the housing (10) to be opened as required. ADVANTAGE - The drying assembly is simple and has a high drying capacity.
