The hydraulically self-locking planetary gearbox has in the gearbox body for one or both directions of rotation of the pumping wheel pairs at least one axially movable throttle element which comprises a combination of sealing member with throttle section which always releases a constant throttle cross-section with a throttle length which is variable with the stroke, and offers to the inner pressure in the throttle phase the same engagement surface as in the closed position. The throttle element is connected to one or more chambers which are impinged with a lock-producing pressure with this direction of rotation, and to at least one pressure-less chamber. On reaching a preset speed-proportional conveyor stream, operated solely by the pressurised oil, the throttle element is completely closed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Hydraulically self-locking planetary gearbox. Oil can be prevented from foaming without the locking action having to be altered in the speed range above the change-over point.
