The stimulation current generator includes a pulse generator a pulse intensity setting unit with an intensity adjuster and a threshold unit for repeated increase and decrease of the amplitude of the stimulation pulses. Each alteration at the i intensity adjuster is detected by constant comparison of the previously measured set values with the new values. On the basis of the deviation, the threshold unit is rest on the output point of a threshold cycle. In addition a new threshold cycle is started. An ADC is used for scanning the set intensity of the stimulation pulse and connected to a microprocessor. The comparator for comparing the previous intensity values stored in the RAM is a part of the microprocessor.
