The machine shifts sideways a track section comprising rails and sleepers. It has a chassis mounted on bogies, equipped with a lifting and shifting mechanism with rolling tools, and a further mechanism working in the longitudinal direction of the track aligning transverse sleepers, and adjsutable for height. A height-adjustable tamping mechanism with positioning and vibratory tools is included. The sleeper aligning mechanism (16) forms with the lifting and shifting one (13) a compact unit (17) with a common support frame (18). The latter is coupled to the chassis (5) by hydraulic rams (12) for vertical and lateral adjustment.
