Waffle bases are produced from a quantity of sweetened dough which is put on a profiled baking plate. At least part of the dough is sprayed in grooves parallel to the side lines of the waffle basic and dough is sprayed on to the plate to cover the flat sufaces in an amount which is than the which the finished waffle basic covers. Thus parallel lines of dough fill parallel grooves in the plate but not transverse grooves. ADVANTAGE - Rectangular waffle bases can be mfd. with natural appearance.
