A fuel cell system is provided to prevent an explosion risk of a fuel tank caused by the increase of an internal pressure by using a safety unit capable of separating a fuel tank from a valve assembly when abnormal pressure appears within a fuel tank. The fuel cell system comprises: a reformer that burns gas fuel to generate heat energy and generates hydrogen-containing modified gas via a water vapor modification reaction of gas fuel by the heat energy; a stack that is provided with the modified gas and oxygen and generates electric energy by an electrochemical reaction of the hydrogen and oxygen; and a fuel supply apparatus that supplies the gas fuel to the reformer. The fuel supply apparatus includes: a fuel tank(31) that compresses and stores the gas fuel; a valve assembly(33) that has a fuel injection part(33b) to be united with the fuel tank(31), is installed to be joined to the reformer, and supplies a predetermined amount of gas fuel to the reformer; a detachable unit(35) for selectively attaching/detaching the fuel tank(31) to/from the fuel injection part(33b); and a safety unit(37) that is installed in the valve assembly(33), is linked by higher internal pressure than a cutoff value of the fuel tank(31), and separates the fuel tank(31) from the fuel injection part(33b).
