<p>PURPOSE:To improve display quality and yield by laminating light shielding layers, a protective layer consisting of such a transparent compd. as to cover the grids of the light shielding layers, and a transparent electrode film in this order. CONSTITUTION:This display device consists of a transparent substrate 1 consisting of glass, the light shielding layers 3 formed in the form of grids on one surface thereof, the transparent silane compd. 4 which is an insulating layer atop the light shielding layers 3, and the transparent electrode film 5. A transparent substrate 2 which consists glass and is disposed to face the above- mentioned substrate and two-terminal active matrix elements (MIM) 6 are formed on one surface thereof. The leak defect of the light shielding layers 3 and the transparent electrode film 5 is, therefore, prevented at the time of forming the transparent electrodes by patterning an opaque metallic film by etching as the light shielding layers 3. In addition, the light shielding layers 3 having the excellent resistance to acides, alkalis and chemicals are formed. The display quality of the high reliability and high contrast is obtd. in this way.</p> |
