PURPOSE:To manufacture a hearth roll having excellent build-up resistance and thermal impact resistance by coating the surface of a hearth roll with a cermet material having a specified ratio of pores. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a hearth roll used in a continuous annealing furnace in a hot rolling line, a cold rolling line, a hot-dip metal coating line or the like is provided with a coating layer of a cermet material obtd. by incorporating 50 to 90vol.% of at least one kind among oxide ceramics such as Al2O3, TiO2, ZrO2, Y2O3, MgO, CaO, SiO2, and Cr2O3 into a heat-resistant alloy of Ni-Cr, Ni-Al, Ni-Cr-Al, Ni-Cr-Al-Y or the like as matrix metal and having 2 to 10vol.% of pores on the whole surface. The hearth roll excellent in build-up resistance and thermal impact resistance can be obtd. |
