The device has a surge hopper (1) containing shots, and mobile shot blasting nozzles (5, 5`) receiving the shots from the hopper via flexible pipes (4). A carriage (13) has an upper part supporting the hopper and a lower part supporting the nozzles. The carriage has rollers (14) rolling on rails (15), and connects the hopper and the nozzles such that movement of the hopper is identical to that of the nozzles. A mechanical or pneumatic unit moves the carriage above a piece to be treated (12) e.g. cylindrical bar.
