A method for the continuous purification of gas containing acid components such as hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide plus impurities, especially carbon oxysulfide, involves (a) contacting the gas with a 30-60 wt% aqueous amine solution (A) in zone 1 at a temperature 5-10[deg]C above that of the gas and then (b) passing the partly deacidified gas through zone 2 containing another 30-60 wt% aqueous amine solution at 60-90[deg]C to absorb at least some of the residual COS.
