PURPOSE:To obtain a solid soln. having low heat conductivity by dissolving indium oxide, etc., in zirconium oxide and to attain satisfactory thermal responsiveness with a thin heat retaining layer by using the solid soln. for a thermal head. CONSTITUTION:A zirconium oxide-based solid soln. having <=3X10<-3>Cal/ cm.sec. deg.C heat conductivity is composed of >=60mol% zirconium oxide and <40mol% indium oxide. A thermal head using the solid soln. is obtd. by forming a heat insulating layer 2 of the solid soln. on an insulating substrate 1 of alumina and a layer 3 of a heating resistor on the layer 2. |
