发明名称 MEASURING METHOD OF FLOW RATE OF MOLTEN METAL
摘要 PURPOSE:To measure the flow rate of a molten metal by a method wherein light beams are projected towards the surface of the molten metal from a light emitting device, the reflecting light is received by a photoreceptor, and the position of the surface of the molten metal is detected. CONSTITUTION:A flow rate measuring apparatus is comprised of a weir 7 provided at a predetermined position of a tub 4b, a level detector 8 provided above the weir 7 at the side of the upper stream of the weir 7 and an operating device. The level detector 8 consists of a light emitting device 9 which generates laser beams, and a photoreceptor 12 which guides the reflected laser beams to an image sensor 11 thereby to detect an angle of incidence. The laser beams from the light emitting device 9 are reflected at the surface of the molten metal, and enter the photoreceptor 12 with an inclination of theta to the vertical line. However, since the molten metal is flowing and the surface is billowing, the reflecting direction of the laser beams is deflected. Therefore, the reflected light at a point of incidence when the surface of the molten metal is approximately flat in the ridge or valley of the wave enters the photodetector 12. The data output from the photodetector 12 is changed in accordance with the level of the molten metal. The center value of the fluctuation is detected by the operating device, and the flow rate of the molten metal M is calculated from the value of the level. The flow rate of the molten metal can be presumed from the difference of the level from the height of the weir.
