PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for synthesizing methacrylic acid in high yield by heating a liquid mixture consisting of Mo-oxide, V-oxide, a catalyst raw material other than a specific metal and water to a definite temp. or higher and subsequently cooling the same to add the specific metal and the others thereto. CONSTITUTION:A liquid mixture consisting of a catalyst raw material other than potassium, rubidium, cesium and thallium and water is added to oxides of molybdenum and vanadium such as molybdenum trioxide, vanadium pentoxide or the like to be heated at 85 deg.C or higher for 1-10hr. Subsequently, the temp. of the liquid mixture is cooled to 80 deg.C or lower and elements of potassium, rubidium, cesium and thallium are added to the liquid mixture, and ammonia as ammonium nitrate and pyridine are further added thereto. After water is removed, the residue is heat-treated to obtain a catalyst preparing methacrylic acid in high yield at low reaction temp. |
