PURPOSE:To increase the efficiency of water saving by measuring the degree of contamination of circulating washing water as the area of a processed photosensitive material, feeding a purifying agent into a water storing means in accordance with the measured degree and discharging part of washing water in the means. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive material is detected with a film sensor 8 and the degree of contamination of washing water circulating through a circulating means 3 is counted as the total area of the processed photosensitive material with a counter 9 connected to the sensor 8 on the basis of information from the sensor 8. In the case where the total area exceeds a value corresponding to a prescribed degree of contamination, a prescribed amt. of a purifying agent is fed from a feeding means 5 on the basis of experimental values. At the time when a photosensitive material is processed by a prescribed area below 1,550 in<2> per 1l washing water, at least part of washing water in a water storing means 2 is discharged by a discharging means 6. The efficiency of water saving can be increased. |
