SPRAY WASHING APPARATUS A filter cleaning device comprises a cabinet within which is mounted an operating mechanism including a platform on which a cylindrical filter can be positioned with the axis of the filter vertical. The platform includes a central opening into which a vertical cylinder projects for vertical reciprocating movement under the control of a water supply to the interior of the cylinder. An outer frame surrounding the platform is carried on the cylinder so that it simultaneously reciprocates with the cylinder. The cylinder carries a pair of nozzles on the inside of the filter for projecting onto the filter wall. The frame carries a pair of nozzles projecting from the outside onto the outer surface of the filter. One of the inner nozzles and one of the outer nozzles are arranged to project onto the same point of the filter to provide a gentle cleaning action. The platform is rotated by a ratchet mechanism carried by the outer frame so that as the frame reciprocates through each cycle of movement, the platform is rotated through one tooth. The device can be manufactured wholly from plastics material avoiding corrosion and operates solely by water power providing a simple device resitant to breakdown.
