<p>PURPOSE:To reduce an error in adaptive interpolation changeover and to decrease picture distortion at a picture edge by providing a 1st edge detection circuit, a 1st attenuation circuit, a 2nd edge detection circuit and 2nd attenuation circuit to the system. CONSTITUTION:An attenuation control signal S20 is given to a variable attenuation circuit 20 from an edge detection circuit 21 and the variable attenuation circuit 20 applies attenuation processing to a moving correction inter-field difference signal S8 in proportion to the attenuation control signal S20 and gives an attenuation signal S21 to an adaptive movement interpolation changeover control circuit 3. Moreover, an attenuation control signal S22 is given to a variable attenuation circuit 22 from an edge detection circuit 23 and the variable attenuation circuit 22 applies attenuation processing to a corrected inter-field difference signal S10 in proportion to the attenuation control signal S22 and gives the result to the adaptive movement interpolation changeover control circuit 3. That is, an inter-field (or inter-frame) difference is decreased in response to the detection level of the edge of the picture. Thus, the switching error of the movement interpolation switching control signal is decreased and picture distortion in the adaptive movement interpolation is reduced.</p> |
