The device for processing banknotes comprises a conveyor with rollers (1), a group of bladed wheels (5), the spaces between the blades of which receive one security at a time, pushed by the conveyor with rollers, and a receptacle (6), a blank (61) of which, traversed by the bladed wheels, forms a stop for halting a banknote and permitting its stacking. The bladed wheels (5) have a closed inter-blade profile, of substantially constant width; the motor (40) of the group of bladed wheels is of the type with controlled discontinuous operation, with a plurality of stop positions, each of which corresponds to the alignment of an entry of a blade on the exit of the roller train; first and second sensors (21; 22) sensing the presence of the security are provided upstream of the group of bladed wheels; control means (30) enable the motor to advance the group of bladed wheels when the two sensors indicate an absence of securities, after having indicated the presence thereof. <IMAGE>
