PURPOSE:To prevent the secondary infection, and also, to remarkably reduce the capacity and to improve the handling by heating and sterilizing medical treatment waste containing plastic, etc., and simultaneously, melting or softening a part or the whole of the plastic etc., and thereafter, compressing and reducing the capacity. CONSTITUTION:A medical treatment waste containing vessel 4 consisting of a bag or a vessel in which medical treatment waste 6 is contained is placed on a receiving base an compression plate 8 in an enclosed device main body 3, heated to a prescribed temperature and for a prescribed time by a heater 5, and the medical treatment waste 6 is sterilized and melted or softened. As example, in the case where the heating temperature is set to 180 deg.C, as for the sterilization time, it is desirable to set it to a range of 10-60 minute. Subsequently, by operating an ascending/descending unit 10, the molten or softened medical treatment waste 6 and the vessel 4 are allowed to ascend, pressed against a top plate 11 and compressed. Thereafter, by operating the ascending/descending unit 10, the processed object is allowed to descend, and after executing natural cooling or forced cooling by a fan, the processed object molded integrally is taken out by an opening/closing door 1.
