The armoured cladding for a vehicle, safe or strongroom, comprises several parallel layers and different materials, one or more of the layers containing elastic material. The layer (2) comprises a large number of prestressed flat components (5, 6), themsleves of elastic material and each containing prestressed reinforcements (7). The components are housed between two enclosing layers (1, 3). ADVANTAGEf- Low cost, high resistance to penetration, and easily adaptable.
