An antioxidant for animal fats, vegetable oils and mixtures thereof comprising ethoxyquin (1,2-dihydro-6-ethoxy-2,2,4-trimethylquinoline) in combination with phosphoric acid and, optionally t-butylhydroquinone. The compositions are particularly effective in stabilizing mixtures of animal fats and vegetable oils recovered from restaurants and rendering plants, a product commonly known as yellow grease and used as an animal feed supplement. The compositions containing t-butylhydroquinone are effective stabilizers for 100% vegetable oil. |
