The method joins the layers of a laminar plate to a metal base layer with an additional layer adhering to it along the edges. The base layer edge is shaped in a press tool. The edges of the base layer (2) are bent over towards the additional one (3) and roughly through a right angle and are secured in a tool (5). The latter is pressed against a second tool (6), which supports the plate (1). The edge is shaped into a seam pocket (13). Further pressure of the tools against each other pulls the additional layer into the pocket, and clamps it between the latter's walls.
