A hydride compound as a hydrogen generation source is provided to make it not necessary to perform a pumping operation when reacting the hydride compound with a catalyst, generate hydrogen constantly when the hydride compound comes into contact with the catalyst, and miniaturize a hydrogen generation system into a portable hydrogen generating device, and a method of preparing the hydride compound is provided. A hydride compound using a hydrogen storage compound and a porous support is characterized in that a hydrogen storage compound is bonded to an outer surface of a porous support made from a ceramic-based material, a carbon-based material, or a polymer-based material, and is bonded to inner surfaces of respective pores formed in the support. The hydrogen storage compound is one of LiBH4, LiAlH4, and NaBH4. A method of preparing a hydride compound using a hydrogen storage compound and a porous support comprises the steps of: dissolving a hydroxide of metal contained in a hydrogen storage compound into distilled water; mixing a metal hydroxide solution with the hydrogen storage compound; and submersing the porous support into a mixed solution and drying the support coated with the mixed solution. A method of preparing a hydride compound using a hydrogen storage compound and a porous support comprises the steps of: ball-milling the hydrogen storage compound and the porous support and mixing the ball-milled hydrogen storage compound with the ball-milled porous support; and ball-milling the mixture. |
