A method and an apparatus for recording a broadcasting program by using EPG(Electronic Program Guide) data are provided to synthesize a recording reservation time of a broadcasting program selected by a user with the EPG data and record a program for which the user wishes accurately without an unnecessarily recorded part and a no-recorded part. A user interface unit(601) receives a recording reservation channel and recording reservation time information from a user. A broadcasting program schedule searching unit(602) searches a broadcasting program schedule corresponding to the recording reservation channel and the recording reservation time inputted by the user by referring to EPG data. If the broadcasting program schedule is not searched, a broadcasting program searching unit(603) searches a broadcasting program included in a recording reservation time zone by referring to the EPG data. A recording time reset unit(604) resets the recording reservation time information as a broadcasting time of the searched broadcasting program.
