CABLE MODEM TERMINATION SYSTEM APPARATUS FOR HYBRID FIBER COAXIAL NETWORKS

A cable modem termination apparatus for a hybrid fiber coaxial network is provided to simplify table information to use a memory efficiently and facilitate data debugging and updating, thereby performing the MAC protocol processing of a cable modem efficiently. An MAC(Media Access Control) protocol processor(220) manages functions of processing the initial setting of cable modems and MAC management messages necessary for providing a service in the interaction with plural cable modems configuring a network as one of the MAC control functions of a cable modem termination apparatus. The MAC protocol processor receives information about an MAC domain and information about a logical uplink channel(211) from an operator through an operator I/O(Input/Output) controller(210). The operator I/O controller includes an interface for outputting set control information to the operator. Network control information inputted through the operator I/O controller is divided into operation policy information, uplink channel information, and downlink channel information in the MAC protocol processor and is respectively stored in the table storage unit(250) of a memory space allocated for MAC protocol processing. The table storage unit includes a downlink channel information table, an uplink channel information table, and an operation policy setting table. The network control information divided by the MAC protocol processor is recorded in the predetermined fields of various tables.
