The extractor comprises a drive roll with a kinematic drive chain incorporating a d.c. engine, an elastic coupling, planetary reduction gearing, and an endless rubber belt. Three driven rolls move on the belt and are fixed to an oscillating lever with two adjustable helical control springs. The optical fibre is controlled through friction between the drive roll and the belt, and is also turned through 90 deg.
