PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head that suppresses the demagnetizing effect during the recording and to realize the high density recording, by providing a small iron piece near the gap of a ring-type head. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head consists of a ring-shaped magnetic material core 1 having a gap 2, a magnetic rectangular parallelepiped bar 3 made of the same material as the core 1 and a magnetism supply coil 4. A magnetic tape 5 is transported so that the gap 2 is set right-angled to the transport direction. Owing to the bar 3 set near the gap 2, the attenuation is made sharp for the distribution of magnetic field intensity in the direction parallel to the gap 2. Thus the recording demagnetization can be suppressed, and the feature of the lateral recording can be derived most effectively. |
