PURPOSE:To prepare the subject compound having lightweight and moldability and exhibiting a ferromagnetic property in spite of an organic substance, especially an organic polymeric compound, by subjecting a specific cinnamic nitrile derivative polymer to a thermal treatment. CONSTITUTION:A cinnamic nitrile derivative polymer of formula I [R<1>-R<3> are H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio, OH, amino, lower alkylamino, a group of formula (R<4> is H, lower alkyl), etc., NO2, CN; the bashed line is single or double bound] is subjected to a thermal treatment (preferably 250-500 deg.C) to prepare the objective compound having repeat units of formula III and having a mol.wt. of 500-500000. |
