Disclosed is a diaminotrifluoromethylpyridine derivative of the formula (I) or its salt: (see fig.I) (wherein X is -CW1R1, -COCOR2, -CW1NHCOR2, -C(=W1)W2R3 or -CW1N(R4)R5, and Y is alkyl, -CW3R6, -COCOR7, -NHCOR7, -C(=W3)W4R8, -(NH)mSO2R9, -(NH)mSO2OR10 or -(NH)mSO2N(R11)R12, wherein R1, R6 and R9 are each a chain, mono- or polycyclic hydrocarbon group or a mono- or polycyclic heterocycle group, R2 and R7 are each alkyl, alkoxy, phenyl or phenoxy, R3, R8 and R10 are each alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl or benzyl, R4, R5, R11 and R12 are each alkyl, W1, W2, W3 and W4 are each O or S, and m is 0 or 1, provided that a combination wherein one of X and Y is -COCF2X1 wherein X1 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl or haloalkyl, and the other is -COCF2X2 wherein X2 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, haloalkyl or alkylcarbonyl, or -COOX3 wherein X3 is alkyl or phenyl is excluded) useful as phospholipase A2 inhibitor, anti-inflammatory agent or anti-pancreatitis agent.
