<p>PURPOSE:To well keep treatment capacity for a long period of time by holding a purifying material wherein a biomembrane is provided to the surface of a carrier having specific gravity of 1.0 or more in a purifying tank and passing water to be treated through the purifying material from above to below within the tank at the time of purifying operation. CONSTITUTION:Many purifying materials 6 are received in a purifying tank 5 so as to be placed on a mesh plate 7. The purifying materials 6 are prepared by holding a biomembrane on the surfaces of carriers 61 having specific gravity slightly higher than 1.0 and the biomembrane is composed of lower plants such as algae to cover the surfaces of the carriers 61. Since the specific gravity of the carriers 61 is higher than 1.0, the purifying materials 6 are laminated to the mesh plate 7 provided to the lower part of the purifying tank 5 in a mutually close contact state at the time of purifying operation to constitute a purifying bed 8 and org. matter is separated and removed from the water to be treated passing through the purifying bed 8 by the biomembrane. The purifying materials 6 are properly whirled up at the time of backwashing operation to collide mutually to properly shave off the biomembranes on the surfaces thereof.</p> |
