PURPOSE:To obtain magnetic recording medium excellent in electromagnetic conversion characteristics by using such a magnetic powder, to the surface of which a specified org. compd. is adsorbed. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of the magnetic layer, adsorption point of a binder resin is covered with a compd. of small volume. As for the compd. of small volume, fatty acid of low mol.wt. is used to prevent adsorption of a fatty acid added as a lubricant to the magnetic coating film since the fatty acid as the lubricant can easily be adsorbed into the surface of the powder. This low mol.wt. fatty acid is expressed by CH3(CH2)n-COOH with an integer (n) from 4 to 9. Thereby, dispersibility and packing property of the magnetic powder can be improved even when fine particles are used, and the obtd. medium has excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics. |
