The shelf comprises in combination a metal bracket (1) consisting of a flat bar (11) containing at least two countersunk holes (16) to enable the bracket (1) to be screwed to the wall, said holes (16) being immediately adjacent to the top edge of the flat bar (11), welded perpendicularly to which are at least two tenons (12, 13) towards its ends and immediately adjacent to its top edge, said tenons (12, 13) each comprising close to its free end a peripheral annular neck (14, 15); a shelf (2) of greater length than the flat bar (11) and of greater thickness than said flat bar (11) along the face (20) nearest the wall, which face includes a longitudinal recess (21) appropriately dimensioned to house the flat bar (11) and extended by mortices (22, 23) of appropriate number and dimensioned to accommodate the tenons (12, 13) of the flat bar (11); a small countersunk hole being drilled under the shelf (2) into each mortice (22, 23) at the position of the peripheral annular neck (14, 15) of the tenon (12, 13) in order that a small screw can be introduced and the metal bracket (1) and the shelf (2) invisibly fastened together. <IMAGE>
